The Secret To More Turn With Your Hips

I'm going to start this out by guaranteeing that what I will be talking about is something you never pay attention to and is one of the major reasons you have restriction with your lower body turn on the downswing. The good news is it can be fixed without changing any swing mechanics. It's called cause and effect!!!!

The effect is falling back, over the top, loss of power, slower swing speed. The list goes on but I will stop there. One of the main causes that people do not pay attention to, is how their lead foot is placed on the ground. When you look at all the long hitters on tour, you will see them flaring their lead toe out towards the target to open up their lead hip a little to give them freedom to turn their lower body faster with less restriction.

Don't believe me? Sounds to simple? Can't believe you haven't realized this before? Stand up and try this out. Stand straight up and down and then take your lead foot in your golf swing and lift it up on its heel then point your toes towards the middle of your stance and much as possible. Then keeping that foot in place, try to turn your lower body in the direction you would turn it if you were taking a down swing (To the left for a right handed golfer). Now that is an exaggeration of how much you actually have your toe pointed in towards the middle of your stance normally. The point is that by not flaring your lead toe out at setup, you are restricting your lower body from full range of motion. If you look at the best players in the world, the longer the club and faster they plan on swinging, the more you will see that lead toe is flared out.

The next time you hit the range make sure that lead foot is flared out and you will have alot more freedom to turn through the shot. You will be hitting it longer in no time.
