About Me

I am Jonathan Smith, founder and director of instruction at Jonathan Smith Golf. I'm a certified PGA Teaching Professional and Level 2 First Tee Coach passionate about growing the game of golf. My method for teaching the game is based on making it easy and fun for all ages and skill levels.

 

I have given golf instructions for nearly two decades. My many years of teaching have allowed me to gain expertise in simplifying swing techniques, while incorporating physical fitness to improve my student's performance. I've given golf lessons for kids as young as three, so my philosophy is designed to grow the game.

 

My teaching experience consists of learning from some of the best instructors in the game. Here are a few highlights: 2014-2015, I taught and studied under the top PGA teaching professional in America at the Hank Johnson School of Golf. From 2016-2017, I took a lead instructor role at Golf Made Simple, which was ranked a top 5 golf school in America at that time. Most recently, I taught with the Mike Richards Golf Academy from 2017-2023 as lead instructor of the junior golf programs in Parkland and Coral Springs, Florida.

 

In addition to running those programs, in the fall of 2023, I was hired to be the head coach of the girls' high school varsity golf team at Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Parkland. In my first year of coaching, I took the team to the State Championship Tournament. The ultimate goal of my lessons is to make sure my students improve their game's mental, physical, and technical aspects.
